Stuff I Say

So every now and then someone links me to a thread where people are upset about how I reinterpret Pokemon. Just want to clarify some things. I interpret them as having evolved from the life on our planet so they will look more like real animals. This project was primarily about teaching myself creature design through the study and research of real animals. This seems to rub a small group of people the wrong way. Please understand that this is just my interpretation for my own personal project. You are welcome to your own take and no one person has the definitive interpretation. Also since that particular thread mentioned was complaining that my abomasnow was just a fantasy creature, I was combining penguins, therizinosaurs, and owls to make that. The outcome of an owlbear aesthetic was 100% coincidental. Here is some concept art for the illustration.

On a more positive note, expect the return of realistic Pokemon illustration in the next month or two. I was just worn out on drawing Pokemon after working on The Detective Pikachu movie for 7 months and how terrible Sun and Moon was. With that said I'm very excited to get back to the project now. So I hope you guys are also excited.

I’ve had problems with Sun and Moon. I really didn’t like how they made Lusamine in the original games. They wanted to make her a dark villian, but at the same time they wanted to make her a compassionate person. It was clear they wanted to do both with her.

To Ultra Sun and Moon’s credit. They did try to give her a benevolent character as well as give some grips wit the first game.

I’m hoping that these games will give Nintendo lessons on the next Pokémon games.
