Description
Last year I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work on a dragon book for Scholastic by way of Becker&Mayer Books. I got to take a crack at designing 16 different mythical dragons from all over the world for a book called Sink Your Teeth Into Dragons.
The Tarasque was a super weird creature design, having so many disparate parts associated with it in various stories. I had seen a number of historical illustrations of it showing great big spiky shells so I leaned into the turtle dragon angle. I'm a super big fan of alligator snapping turtles so there is more than a fair share of that in there. There is also a scorpion tail, because why not. Unfortunately this was one of the last pieces I did on this book so I didn't get nearly the time I wanted to spend on it as there was a fast approaching deadline. That being said I did learn a ton about what my limits are and just how much I can push out in such a limited amount of time.
