Zoroarks secrete a greasy hallucinogen that coats their mane. This toxin can be absorbed through the skin and causes predators and would be prey to see them as a much larger Pokemon than they are. Sometimes their toxin can coagulate into turquoise lumps in their fur, these are known as Zoroark beads and are quite valuable as a recreational hallucinogen. They are notorious for feeding on Natu as they cannot fly yet and Xatu are ground laying birds. Natu's psuchic abilities have no effect on Zorua and Zoroark. Diglett is ready for his closeup.
On the other hand, THEY AREN'T CUTE ANYMORE!! T_T Actually I noticed this with a number of your drawings. Possibly this has to do with realistically sized eyes. But if we're looking at the evolutionary stages as age stages, then the base forms should still have large eyes, as that's something that occurs naturally: babies have large eyes. Pretty much every animal is hardwared to love things with big eyes, thus babies of most species having unspeakably large and adorable eyes (presumably so our own babies won't look like tasty morsels of flesh). And large eyes in adults are not unknown to animals *cough*slowlorris*cough*. Just a suggestion. Flygon's the only one so far I've seen you give large eyes. Larger eyes, I think, would go a long way to making the supposed "infant" stages like Zorua and Growlithe a baby look to them. (Don't sweat it, though, drawing anything looking like a baby is pretty much universally acknowledged to be super difficult. Case in point, any Renaissance painting ever with a baby in it. Creepy little buggers.)
But I'm loving the interpretive approach to these. If I was any kind of artist good at freehanding it I'd totally fanart your fanart.
Though specifically for Zoroark... where's his tail?
Zoroark does not have a tail in his official design, he has a really long ponytail. If you read the description and look at the picture, you'll see Flygon does not have large eyes, but does have large protective membranes over his small eyes. I do pay quite close attention to eye size, the eyes are proportionately largely on the young than those of the adults. The reason eyes look larger on babies is that eyes grow comparatively little in relation to the rest of the animal as they age. The eyes of a baby will never be larger than that of an adult, as they do not shrink with age, only the rest of the head gets bigger. The reason why human woman eyes often look larger than males is that the eyes of all adult humans are almost the same size, its just male heads are larger and therefore the eyes are smaller in relation. There is also a difference between an infant and very young, I do not draw infant fresh from the eggs. I look quite closely, in the case of zorua, at aardwolf babies, and the eye scale is reflective of that. Large eyes are not just for babies as you point out, but more for just small animals or small head animals. Look at the largest animals out there, they almost universally have very large heads with very small eyes in relation(whales, elephants, T. rexes). I would like to end on the idea that what's cute is not universally agreed upon, I happen to find many of the pokemon I redesigned are quite cute, especially eevee.
Ahem, anyways. I love the design for Zoroa, as it sort of looks like a mix of weasle and fox, two creatures I absolutely adore. The Zoroark, however, looks like Zoroa if it went werewolf. That is just such a badass right there! The design of Xatu is strange to me, as it kind of looks like a buzzard and I never really saw it that way, but it's still cool. And those Natu are adorable <3. Lastly there's the Diglett, which is just so... So... *shivers* It's scary...
