Here is the last one in this little series, Spektre. This is the first character i created that i regularly redrew, also was the first thing i submitted to this little site. I dont like finishing pictures of him very much anymore because wings and tails have become so tedious to draw. So i decided to come up with a very unique looking set of wings, something much more weapon like. They arent that large because his species, the Ryu-Bæroc, cannot fly, but only glide, and use them to jump great distances. This was a fun little project.
Info: Spektre is not his real name, but is a name he gave himself when he was thrust out of his clan. This chosen name refers to him not really having a home and showing up very rarely amongst his own kind. He imbues his zweihander blade with spells, and thusly is the mage of Arvalis's group. He dispenses battlefield wisdom to Arvalis as he has seen much more than his younger companion. Spektre becomes something of a mentor and great friend to Arvalis .
Love the feet. Reminds me of Nightcrawler from X-Men. What else can I say? I love the skin tone choice. When I look at his face, I see skin, and as I travel down his body, I slowly think it's leather or fur which then makes me question his species. I love that. The outfit looks very modern but still retains it fantasy quality with the belt style and the armour. The tail is especially my favorite. Tails always seem so innocent, and then I noticed that ring and the barb at the end and thought he could be vicious. Overall this is once again, an exceptional job.
I really love the way you drew his feet... with my experience I would NEVER get that done so neatly! I love his face, wings outfit... anything actually! ouch! this reminds me of the fact I REALLY have to practice drawing a bit more >.< and that I need a thinner pen...
I think the reason I have problems with the color scheme is partly because you're doing flat color, without light and shadow. When there's no hight light and shadow, it's probably hard to make the image pup. I understand the color scheme is probably a well thought of design choice, after all you've been design and redesign this character set for years. Don't get me wrong, overall I really like your characters, so very well designed and rendered. I'm sure they'll be much more vivid if you end up doing renderings with lighting and everything~
