My computer is sorta running again. I've had the idea to do an amphibian Dragonite for weeks without the the means to execute it. Upon research I've discovered that Dratini looks suspiciously like a salamander tadpole, everything just fits into place. Pretty much the only time in nature a vaguely serpentine creature transforms into a reptilian looking critter.

The way I was looking at it is that Dragonites are very rare in the wild as it reaches maturity at around 55 years old. They can be trained into maturity much faster than they grow in nature. Dragonites are exceptional swimmer and are very strong ambush predators, using their powerful legs or tail to propel themselves at prey. They often are mistaken for taking flight when really they just jump great heights.

One thing I've noticed about your pieces, is that they are scaled incorrectly. Dragonite is too big, Dragonair is to small.

Again, I use the official heights from the games. However this piece was an exception where I used the height as length for dragonair, which I have not done since.

Woah- I love how you made the antenna look more aquatic, since the original de-evolutions tend to live in the water. It makes a lot more sense that way. And instead of looking fat, this design makes it look muscular! I wish the real dragonites looked less dopey and more like this!

Not a fan of this one to be honest.
You revamped the Pokemon to the point where it doesn't feel at all based on the source material, aside from sharing the same color palette and a few distinct features.
This Dragonite shares none of the charm that the original design had, in my opinion.

Your Pokemon don't have to resemble actual animals to be realistic.

That being said, this is very well done. If you ever redo ANY of these pieces in the future, I definitely recommend keeping up your originals as well, as they are still very sound art pieces.

it would look like that if it was realistic.

What makes you say that?
Dragonite is clearly a dragon in the games, so realistically, he'd be a dragon in real life.
If it's any other species, it wouldn't be a Dragonite.

Ah.. Just shut up. If you are so "perfect" of how dragons look like then deal with it. Nio Smirk Icon

Your painting is amazing so dont let anyone change your mind to think its a regret. Yes, you may get hate and aggressive comments but you shouldn't reply, as it would make them says more horrible things. Amazing work keep it up!

By chance or otherwise, this evolution line, being a basic amphibian metamorphosis, seems to be one of the most "plausible" of all the Pokemon out there, except for the part about its abilities...

Dragonite looks awesome as an amphibian, which actually make sense as its previous forms can easily be interpenetrated as tadpoles.

hmm, i wonder if the fact that it knows all the elemental punches and Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and Blizzard? It basically has perfect control over it's natural temperature and the tempurature of its environment, meaning it can live in any environment, and probably uses the thunderpunch and thunderbolt like a Catfish, zapping and paralyzing underwater prey

Dragonites wings are actually a bit larger. They can fly to at least mach 4-5 speeds, and they can circle the globe within days. Jumping seems a bit like an under exaggeration
