Battle Mage Concept by arvalis Battle Mage Concept by arvalis
Well ive been doing a ton of original character concept sketches, i particularly liked the look of a mage in armor with a zweihander. Plus robes look kickass over armor. Its just a rough concept, wonder what you guys think.

Robes over armor does look pretty kickass, at least here.

alot different than youre usual concepts, this one has alot more life because of the pose and shading, well done :] It might not be as refined or polished as your others but good concept none the less

Yeah i really liked the face, so i was like, well i better at least get some trones on this. I really didnt feel like doing a real armor set for him, so i kinda did whatever was easiest, besides its gets the point across. Sometimes its fun to just draw with no pressure ya know, thats why i left the pose so flawed and sloppy, didnt want to worry bout errors :)

...! I like! And this gives me an idea.

With your permission, may I use this picture as a template?

...regardless of the answer, :+fav:

Sure use it for a template(not real sure what you mean by this...). Just make sure to credit me and link me to your finished product :)

Alright, I will make sure to do that: thanks :)

As for my definition of "template," it would just be the stance and maybe a piece of the armor or two, but not much more.

Thanks again :)

I like the head! He has character. Cloth over armor is an intressting(effective) idea. I don't really like his pose...like hes floating backwarts... You have this backwards jumping/floatingfalling tendency lately, haven't you? I know it's just a sketch...sorry^^:

I like poses that look somewhat weightless, untethered by gravity. For characters have have flowing parts to their design(which most of mine do)it can really accentuate the costume pieces, i honestly just like the look of it. Guess it just a personal taste maybe?
